ELECTRO-HYDRAULIC ACTUATOR WITH AN INTEGRATED BRAKE

PURPOSE: An electro-hydraulic actuator with an integrated brake is provided to be operated in a large holding torque mode for a long period without consuming large amount of energy and overheating. CONSTITUTION: An electro-hydraulic actuator (10) with an integrated brake comprises a master cylinder (12), an electric motor (14), and an electro-mechanical brake (16). The master cylinder comprises a hydraulic cylinder (20) and an actuating piston (22). The actuating piston is slidably accepted inside the hydraulic cylinder to change the pressure inside a hydraulic circuit. The electric motor is adapted to drive the actuating piston into the hydraulic cylinder and comprises a stator and a rotor. The electro-mechanical brake is arranged to selectively and releasably hold the rotor with respect to the stator to prevent relative rotational motion there between.
