<p>PURPOSE: A backing member and an ultrasonic probe including the same are provided to absorb unnecessary ultrasonic waves radiated from the rear side of a piezoelectric element of an ultrasonic probe and to obtain a excellent dicing processability. CONSTITUTION: A backing member for an ultrasonic probe is installed on the rear side of a piezoelectric element of an ultrasonic probe and attenuates ultrasonic waves radiated from the rear side of the piezoelectric element. The backing member contains a mixture of a base material and filler. The base material is polyurethane resin. The filler is manganese powder.</p>
