A lock assembly including a mandrel 12 has one or more windows 16 arranged alternatingly with one or more struts 20. One or more dogs 18 are included corresponding to the one or more windows 16 and are radially extendable therethrough. A member 14 is operatively arranged for radially extending each of the one or more dogs 18. Each of the one or more dogs is operatively coupled between the member 14 and the mandrel 12 when fully radially extended by the member 14 for bypassing loading in the one or more struts 20 during loading of the assembly.
