METHOD FOR CASTING HOLLOW INGOTS

A method for casting hollow ingots, in which molten metal is poured into a mold with a feeder head followed by forming a cavity of ingot by a core rod with its subsequent removal from the ingot. Pouring molten metal into the mold is carried out with a particular underfill and with its open upper portion. After the predetermined time of holding on the mold said feeder head with the core rod is placed. The rod displaces the required volume of liquid metal to complete filling of cavities in the mold and fodder head. Removing the core rod from the ingot is carried out by its tearing at transition of the metal into the plastic state, after which on the mold a gas-permeable lid is mounted and it is kept in that position up to the ingot solidification.
