CUTTING INSERT FOR FACE MILLING

PURPOSE: A cutting insert for face milling process is provided to improve processing quality by preventing the interference of the bottom of a material to be cut. CONSTITUTION: A cutting insert for face milling process comprises a first plane (31), a second plane, a first main flank (41), a second main flank (42), a first secondary flank (51), a second secondary flank (52), a first separator groove (61), a first main cutting edge (81) and a second main cutting edge. The first and second planes are at right angle to the central axis line of a joint hole (20) and are separately formed. The first and second main flanks are separately formed in both sides of the first and second planes. The first and second secondary flanks are separately formed in the second plane and the both sides of the first and second main flanks. The first separator groove is formed in the first secondary flank so that a first clearance surface (71) and a second clearance surface (72) are at alternate angles. The first main cutting edge is formed at the edge in which the first plane and the first main flank meet. The second main cutting edge is formed at the edge in which the second plane and the second main flank meet.
