PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active damping device capable of providing higher damping effects.SOLUTION: An active damping device D suppresses vibration of an object to be damped T while changing spring characteristics and attenuation characteristics of a dynamic vibration absorber 1 by changing a drive force of an actuator 11 by a control part 2. The control part includes a relative displacement estimation part 44 which generates the estimated relative displacement value x* between an auxiliary mass 12 and the object to be damped T, a relative velocity estimation part 43 which generates the estimated relative velocity value v* between the auxiliary mass and the object to be damped, a displacement feedback gain generation part 31 which generates a displacement feedback gain k1a as a spring characteristic so that the vibration frequency ω of the object to be damped and the natural frequency of the dynamic vibration absorber match each other, and a velocity feedback gain generation part 32 which generates a velocity feedback gain c1a as an attenuation characteristic so that a damping force produced in the dynamic vibration absorber 1 can be canceled. The control part controls the actuator based on the displacement feedback gain corrected by a displacement error correction part 33.
