PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a quenched ribbon for a rare-earth magnet, in which a modified alloy for raising coercive force (coercive force under a high temperature atmosphere in particular) at a low temperature compared with a conventional manufacturing method of the rare-earth magnet can be usefully and efficiently diffused and impregnated into a quenched ribbon precursor for the rare-earth magnet without using a heavy rare-earth metal such as Dy, Tb.SOLUTION: The method includes a step for manufacturing a quenched ribbon precursor B for the rare-earth magnet to one side face of which the surface roughness of a roll surface Ro1 is transferred by dissolving an alloy ingot and injecting the melt thereof onto a rotary roll Ro having the roll surface Ro1 with prescribed surface roughness, and a step for manufacturing the quenched ribbon for the rare earth magnet by making a quenched ribbon D of a RE-Y alloy (Y: metal element containing no heavy rare-earth element) abut on a surface Ba having the surface roughness in the quenched ribbon precursor B, heat-treating both of them at a temperature of not less than the melting point of the RE-Y alloy under a pressurized state, and diffusing and impregnating the melt of the RE-Y alloy into the quenched ribbon precursor B. |
