PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire image data focusing on a main subject when carrying out continuous shooting at high speed.SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: a subject detection section for detecting a subject; a setting section for setting regions respectively cut out from images which are continuously outputted from an imaging element as an object domain based on a result of the subject detection by the subject detection section; a compression section for carrying out compression processing for the images of the object domain which are respectively cut out from the images which are continuously outputted from the imaging element; and a control section for controlling a focus position of an imaging optical system forming a subject image on the imaging element based on the variation in the data amount of the images of the object domain having undergone compression processing. |
