PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate taking out of a pencil from an electric pencil sharpener even when the pencil has become so short that it cannot be easily pulled out from a sharpening space.SOLUTION: A cover 3 located in front of the space 1a where a pencil P is sharpened by a cutter driven by a motor, and covering the part 1b where the pencil P is introduced into the sharpening space 1a, is provided to be movable from a reference position covering this part 1b toward an open position where this part 1b is exposed. This cover 3 is provided in the reference position with an insertion hole 3g formed for guiding the pencil P into the part 1b. In this hole, a linking member 4 is provided for closing a drive circuit for the motor by its being moved against the pressure of a pencil P inserted into the insertion hole 3g. When the cover 3 in the reference position is moved toward the open position, the drive circuit is opened. |
