PURPOSE: A shift lever assembly for a manual transmission is provided to improve a speed changing feeling which a driver senses through a shift lever and to change the speed changing feeling according to a taste of the driver. CONSTITUTION: A shift lever assembly (100) for a manual transmission comprises a shift groove, a select groove, and a detent unit (130). The shift groove is formed along front and rear directions of a shift lever (103) on a hinge ball (107) and is installed at regular intervals to left and right directions of the shift lever. The select groove is formed along the left and right directions of the shift lever on the hinge ball based on the center of a longitudinal direction of each shift groove. The detent unit is mounted on a lever housing (105) corresponding to each shift groove and the select groove. The detent unit comes into contact with each shift groove and the select groove in shift operation and select operation of the shift lever and transmits a speed changing feeling to the shift lever.
