PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display device capable of suppressing power consumption while maintaining convenience.SOLUTION: A projector 1 includes: a lamp 201 which emits light; liquid crystal panels 203, 204, 205 which modulate the light from the lamp 201 according to a video signal; a human sensor 404 which senses existence of a human body; a video signal detection circuit 407a which detects that the video signal is input; and a CPU 401 which controls the lamp 201, and the liquid crystal panels 203, 204, 205. When operations for projecting an image are performed by motions of the lamp 201, and the liquid crystal panels 203, 204, 205, the CPU 401 continues the operations when the human sensor 404 does not sense the existence of the human body, and the video signal is input, and stops the operations based on that the human sensor 404 does not sense the existence of the human body, and the video signal is input. |
