PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure adhesion strength and then restrict a decline in gas permeability and proton conductivity in an electrode catalyst layer.SOLUTION: In manufacturing a fuel cell 50 which comprises a fuel battery 40, catalyst ink containing catalyst carriers S and ionomer is coated on the surface of an electrolyte membrane 51 and, while the coated catalyst ink is not fully dried, a gas diffusion layer is joined thereto. At this time, the junction load of the gas diffusion layer is managed so that a thickness S0 of an ionomer present region 56 in the gas diffusion layer where the ionomer has gotten into will account for 9 to 37% of the entire ionomer region 58. The catalyst ink is dried under such a management condition, and the electrolyte membrane 51, electrode catalyst layers (anode and cathode) after the catalyst ink is dried, and the gas diffusion layer are laminated one on another. |
