PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an Ic property.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a superconducting wire by depositing a superconductive layer having a multilayer structure including as a main body an RE-based superconductive body on a principal surface of a long base material while moving the base material in one base material lead-out/lead-in region, a deposition region and the other base material lead-out/lead-in region, comprises the steps of: increasing a temperature of the base material while moving the base material in any one of the one base material lead-out/lead-in region and the other base material lead-out/lead-in region (temperature increasing step); depositing one layer of superconductive layer constituent layers of the superconductive layer in an oxygen-containing atmosphere while maintaining the temperature of the base material increased while moving the base material at the temperature increasing step in the deposition region (deposition step); flowing a gas adjusted in oxygen partial pressure into the region so as to maintain a composition state of the superconductive layer constituent layers according to the decreasing temperature of the base material while decreasing the temperature of the base material in the one base material lead-out/lead-in region or the other base material lead-out/lead-in region different from the base material lead-out/lead-in region at the temperature increasing step (temperature decreasing step); and repeating a plurality of times the temperature increasing step, the deposition step, the temperature decreasing step in this order.
