PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for keeping a document platen opened/closed, which is capable of holding a document platen in an opened state with a relatively weak holding force and is small-sized, light-weight, and inexpensive.SOLUTION: The device for keeping a document platen opened/closed comprises a first opening/closing unit which supports a rear part of a document platen so as to allow the document platen to be opened/closed relative to a machine body and a second opening/closing unit which is provided on one or both of left and right side parts of the document platen so as to be located ahead of the first opening/closing unit. The second opening/closing unit comprises; an attachment member which is to be attached on the machine body and includes a bottom plate and both side plates; a support member which includes a rear plate and both side plates and has both side plates thereof turnably attached to both side plates of the attachment member via hinge shafts; and a compression spring which is housed in the support member so as to be elastically provided between the support member and the attachment member. A front end part of the support member is brought into contact with or engaged with the lower side of the document platen. |
