PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to obtain desired moving image data when a shooting direction largely changes.SOLUTION: An image pickup apparatus has a mode for temporarily recording, in a RAM 102, image data obtained from a solid-state image pickup element after a power source is turned on and shooting direction data obtained from a triaxial geomagnetic sensor 108. In this mode, when an instruction to shoot a still image is made, a directional difference between shooting directions is calculated based on the recorded shooting direction data, and image data except image data before image data with the directional difference equal to or larger than a predetermined value is recorded in a recording medium as moving image data. |
