PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a range finding system and a range finding method capable of enhancing accuracy of range finding while suppressing the number of photoelectrons to be photoelectrically converted.SOLUTION: The range finding system generates and accumulates photoelectrons corresponding to a light quantity of incident light in a light receiving period previously determined at irradiation timing of pulse light irradiated to a range finding target and finds out a distance up to the range finding target by a time-of-flight method. In the range finding system, a solid-state imaging apparatus accumulates photoelectrons corresponding to a light quantity of light made incident in a first light receiving period and accumulates photoelectrons corresponding to a light quantity of light made incident in a second light receiving period, where the first light receiving period is a part of a rise period of intensity of reflected light made incident on the solid-state imaging apparatus and the second light receiving period is a period including a fall period from a peak of the intensity of the reflected light made incident on the solid-state imaging apparatus. An operation unit finds out a light quantity ratio by dividing photoelectron information accumulated in the second light receiving period by photoelectron information accumulated in the first light receiving period to find out a distance up to the range finding target. |
