PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic tape drive with stable operating quality, and a control method for the same.SOLUTION: A magnetic tape drive includes; a file reel motor 121 which makes forward rotation and reverse rotation; a roller guide 101; blades 131 which are located on the rotating shaft of the file reel motor 121 to rotate together with the file reel motor 121; a suction duct 141 which is a tube connecting the blades 131 and an edge portion of a roller of the roller guide 101 and has a blade-side opening at a position where air is sucked by the blades 131 while in forward rotation; a suction duct 151 which is a tube connecting the blades 131 and an edge portion of the roller of the roller guide 101 and has a blade-side opening at a position where air is sucked by the blades 131 while in reverse rotation; shutters which opens and closes the suction duct 141 and the suction duct 151; and a controller 191 which controls the shutters such that the suction duct 141 opens while in forward rotation and the suction duct 151 opens while in reverse rotation. |
