PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cloth seal with reduced surface leakage.SOLUTION: A cloth seal (100) for use with turbine components (90, 91) includes at least first and second cloth layers (60, 65). One or more central shims (70) are positioned between the first and second cloth layers (60, 65) to block a leakage flow path passing at least one of the cloth layers. Another shim (102) is positioned on and seals the opposite side of the first cloth layer (60) from the one or more central shims (70) positioned between the first and second cloth layers (60, 65) to block another leakage flow path passing at least one of the cloth layers. Yet another sealing shim (104) may be positioned on the opposite side of the second cloth layer (65) from the one or more central shims (70) positioned between the first and second cloth layers (60, 65) and seal the opposite side of the second cloth layer (65) to block another leakage flow path passing at least one of the cloth layers. |
