PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable highly accurate cutting eliminating influence of backlash due to reversal of the moving direction of a gauge stopper without performing a one-way APC in a short position control time.SOLUTION: In this method for cutting a strip material (8'), the gauge stopper 22 including a plurality of stoppers 26 is moved in a prescribed range in the longitudinal direction of the strip material (8'), one of the stoppers 26 is selected to have a target cutting length between fixed cutting means (30) and the stopper 26, a distal end of the cutting object (8') is pressed on the stopper 26 to cut the stopped cutting object (8'). When the cutting length is set, moving amount Li from a reference position of the gauge stopper 22 in each target cutting length is calculated, and a cutting order is rearranged in the order in which the moving direction is constant and the gauge stopper 22 has little moving amount Li. |
