PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make wood demonstrate its intrinsic function appropriately by inhibiting a frame body from cutting in the wood in deformation by compression in a vehicle impact absorbing member which includes the wood of a pillar shape and the metal frame body of a hollow cylindrical shape fitted externally to the wood.SOLUTION: The frame body 31 is of a regular tetragonal cylindrical shape and the ratio (of one side length to thickness of the regular tetragon) of the frame body 31 is 9 to 12. Alternatively, the frame body is of a regular N-polygonal cylindrical shape (N≥5) or a regular cylindrical shape, or it is of an elliptical cylindrical shape in which the ratio (of major axis to minor axis) is 3 or less. |
