PURPOSE: A division scan method of a touch panel is provided to process a panel scan process by dividing the same into a free scan process and a main scan process, thereby reducing power consumption and increasing response speed. CONSTITUTION: A free scan process subdivides a touch panel into various blocks and senses touch which is generated in the blocks. A main scan process obtains an accurate touch coordinate in the blocks corresponding to a result of the free scan process. Movement speed of an external touch object is calculated by using a touch coordinate, which is calculated corresponding to a result of the main scan process of a previous frame, and a touch coordinate which is calculated corresponding to a result of the main scan process of a current frame. A low power driving mode and a high speed response driving mode are automatically converted corresponding to the movement speed of the external touch object.
