摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that display quality of a moving image is deteriorated irrespective of a light emission period of a light source.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes: a liquid crystal display part; a light source which illuminates the liquid crystal display part from the rear surface; a display control part which writes image data based on an input video signal to pixels for every frame; a moving image detection part which detects a moving image area; a setting part which sets a light emission period of the light source; a light source control part which determines whether or not a writing period when the image data is written to the pixels in the moving image area overlaps the light emission period of the light source, and controls turn-on waveform of the light source on the basis of a determination result; and a light source drive part which outputs a driving signal to drive the light source. The light source is turned on and off in the waveform in which inclinations of the rising waveform and the falling waveform are steep when the driving signal of rectangular waves is output and driven from the light source driving part. The light source control part performs control so that an inclination angle of at least one of the rising waveform and the falling waveform in the turn-on waveform of the light source becomes small when it is determined that the writing period overlaps the light emission period.
