PURPOSE: A black box diagnostic device for a vehicle and a method thereof are provided to supply stable evidences for accident analysis by encouraging initialization of a storage medium when a damaged file exists among recording files stored in the black box for the vehicle. CONSTITUTION: A black box diagnostic device for a vehicle comprises an image input unit (101), a voice input unit (102), a mixer (103), a function selection unit (104), a control unit (105), a storage unit (106), and a display unit (107). The image input unit obtains images of the inside or the outside of the vehicle and supplies the images to the mixer. The voice input unit obtains voice of the inside or the outside of the vehicle and supplies the voice to the mixer. The mixer synchronizes an inputted voice signal and an obtained image signal and supplies the synchronized signals to the control unit. The function selection unit comprises a button or a touch screen and selects or sets the operation of a black box for a vehicle. The control unit converts the voice signal and the image signal into a predetermined size of a recording file and stores the recording file in the storage unit. The storage unit stores the predetermined size of the recording file applied in the control unit. The display unit displays the image signal and the voice signal as moving images.
