PURPOSE: A digital broadcast transmitting method is provided to identify caption information of a corresponding language in a digital broadcast receiver using a service ID indicated in a caption_service_number, thereby improving user friendliness of a caption service. CONSTITUTION: If caption_service_descriptor information includes digital information according to EIA 708, a user processor (504) searches for caption information of a corresponding language based on the language information selected by a user. The user processor sends the service ID of the searched caption information to a DTVCC decoder (507). The DTVCC decoder extracts caption data corresponding to the service ID from a user data area of a picture header which is separated by a video parser (505). A video synthesizer (509) combines a video program decoded by a MPEG-2 video decoder (508) with a video and a Graphic User Interface (GUI) screen produced by a user graphic unit (510) using the extracted caption data.
