PURPOSE: A device and a method for testing the strength of an insulation box for a cargo hold are provided to satisfy required test conditions by evenly pressing the entire top surface of the insulating box with a pressing member and to reduce test costs. CONSTITUTION: A device (1) for testing the strength of an insulation box for a cargo hold includes a chamber body (10), a cover (20), and a pressing member. The insulating box which is an object to be tested is received inside the chamber body. The cover is joined to the chamber body to be detachable. The pressing member is arranged between the chamber body and the cover. A part of the pressing member corresponding to the top surface of the insulating box is extended by pressure fluid supplied through the cover, thereby pressing the top surface of the insulating box.
