PURPOSE: A portable terminal combined with a terminal guide and an automatic configuration setting method are provided to apply established user configuration to the portable terminal automatically when the portable terminal is connected to a docking guide. CONSTITUTION: A docking interface part (170) performs data input/output with a terminal guide connected through docking. When a docking sensing signal is received through the docking interface part, a docking agent (182) acquires configuration profile. A user configuration management part (182) changes user configuration of the portable terminal on the basis of the configuration profile. An application management part (186) controls to allow execution of an application in the portable terminal on the basis of the configuration profile. The configuration profile includes user interface (UI) setting information, application information and widget information.
