PURPOSE: An overvoltage protection device of an LED panel and a protection method thereof are provided to prevent a heat detection prevention phenomenon from being generated by an increase in temperature of a chip by setting OVP(Over Voltage Protection) according to a reference voltage and a setting voltage. CONSTITUTION: An LED string is combined with an LED panel(110). A DC/DC converter supplies an operating voltage to an end of the LED string. An open string monitoring unit(143) monitors each LED string is opened or not. A DC/DC control unit controls an output voltage of the DC/DC converter to normally supply an LED operating current to the LED panel. A comparer(160) compares a contact point voltage with a setting voltage higher than a reference voltage of a monitoring unit(152). |
