The seat (2) has a base (8) comprising a front part provided with a swiveling unit, and a backrest (4) comprising an upper part provided with another swiveling unit. A blocking unit blocks the backrest in normal utilization position of the seat. A blocking unit controller engages with the base so that the swiveling of the base releases the blocking unit. The controller comprises a mechanical cable (16) to transmit translational releasing movement to the blocking unit. The blocking unit comprises a bolt (20) co-acting with a striking plate (18). An independent claim is also included for a car.
