METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING OF NEAR NET SHAPE BILLET

PURPOSE: A freeform billet continuous casting device is provided to continuously manufacture a free cross-sectional billet with high quality and strength at high speed by controlling cooling water. CONSTITUTION: A freeform billet continuous casting device comprises the following steps. Cooling water is sprayed onto a first region in which the molten metal surface of a mold is maintained in the progress direction of a billet toward the mold of an electromagnetic continuous casting machine (A); onto a second region (B) which is the lower part of the mold; and onto a third region (C) in which the billet starts breaking away from the mold. The cooling water spray for the first region or/and the second region is implemented differently according to a convex area and a concavo area.
