The device has a measuring unit (130) measuring entire length of a fuel pellet arranged in a row on a tray (10). A controller compares the total measured length with defined length. A queuing table is positioned next to a tray transfer unit (110) for storing a redundant fuel pellet. A moving unit (111) is arranged to drive the fuel pellet by the controller and to move the fuel pellet between a plate whose length measurement is carried out by the measuring unit and the queuing table to add or remove the fuel pellet arranged on the tray.
