The system (10) has a reverberating cavity (12) i.e. chaotic cavity, comprising ergodic properties with respect to propagation of electromagnetic waves inside the cavity. The cavity includes an opening (14) emitting electromagnetic waves that circulate inside the cavity. A primary source (16) transmits primary electromagnetic waves into the cavity. A dispersive medium (50) i.e. dispersive waveguide, is traversed by the electromagnetic waves emitted from the cavity such that distance covered by the electromagnetic waves in the dispersive medium is greater than 2 cm, preferably 10cm. An independent claim is also included for a high power electromagnetic wave generation method.
