PURPOSE: An icon animating device of a mobile terminal and a method thereof are provided to animate at least one particular icon among icons being displayed on a screen, which is varied when the screen of a smart phone is varied, during predetermined animating time in the shape of predetermined animation. CONSTITUTION: A screen varying recognition unit (110) recognizes the variation of the screen of a smart phone. An icon animation unit (120) comprises an icon searching part, an icon selecting part, an icon animation performing part and an icon animation termination part. In case the variation of the screen of the smart phone is recognized with the screen varying recognition unit, the icon animation unit animates at least one particular icon among icons being displayed on a screen, which is varied, during predetermined animating time in the shape of predetermined animation.
