PURPOSE: A backlight unit and a liquid crystal display device including the same are provided to release heat to outside by effectively diffusing the heat flowed into a light guide plate from a light source into the inside of the light guide plate by a thermal conductive layer which is positioned within an adhesive layer. CONSTITUTION: The light irradiated from a light source (10) passes through a light guide plate (20). A reflective sheet (60) reflects the light going to outside. An adhesive layer (40) fixes the light guide plate and the reflective sheet. A pattern (30) is formed between the light guide plate and the adhesive layer. A thermal conductive material contained in a conductive layer (50) release the heat generated in the process of passage of the light to outside.
