PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric conversion element with an improved short circuit current density at low cost.SOLUTION: In a photoelectric conversion element, a photoelectric conversion layer having a porous semiconductor layer, a collector electrode contacting with the photoelectric conversion layer, a charge transport layer, a counter electrode, and a counter electrode supporting body supporting the counter electrode, are sequentially provided on a translucent supporting body supporting the collector electrode. The photoelectric conversion element further has an insulating layer. The insulating layer is provided between the translucent supporting body and the photoelectric conversion layer, has a refractive index value larger than that of the translucent supporting body and smaller than that of the porous semiconductor layer, and has a sheet resistance value of 100 &OHgr;/sq. or more. |
