PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video detection device and a video detection method for detecting a first video in the video having the first video and a second video, a video recording device and a video recording method for recording the first video only, and a video recording and reproducing device and a video recording and reproducing method for reproducing the first video only at the time of reproducing the video having the first video and the second video.SOLUTION: A video detection part 20 includes: an estimation part 21 which estimates a side part of a video frame PF on which a second video SB is displayed from among an upper side part, a lower side part, a left side part and a right side part on the basis of deviation of color information of pixels of the predetermined number of lines; and a detection part 22 which moves a boundary detection line toward the estimated side part from the center of the video frame PF, detects the boundary between a first video MN and the second video SB on the basis of luminance difference of the pixels near the boundary detection line and detects the first video MN on the basis of the detected boundary.
