In the present invention, a piston (5) to which a piston rod (6) is coupled is inserted into a cylinder which has an oil solution enclosed therein, and the flow of the oil solution caused by the movement of the piston (5) is controlled by a damping force generation mechanism (25), thus generating a damping force. The damping force generation mechanism (25) is provided within a cylindrical case (26) that projects out at a side part of an external cylinder (3), and a nut member (34) is threaded onto a male thread section (50) of the case (26) to secure the damping force generation mechanism (25). An O-ring is provided between an outer peripheral surface of the case (26) and an inner peripheral surface of the nut member (34), and the unpainted male thread section (50) is sealed from the exterior. This makes it possible to prevent moisture, dust, and the like from infiltrating to the unpainted male thread section (50), and to prevent the occurrence of rust and corrosion. |
