The cultivating device has a light-irradiated region. The concentration devices are provided for concentrating incident light in the phototropic culture, to create high-intensity light portions and low-intensity light portions of greater depth. The high-intensity light portions are penetrated in deeper layers of the phototrophic cultures. The conveying units are provided to promote portion of the phototropic culture (4) alternately along the light-bright and weak portions. An independent claim is included for method for controlling cultivating device.
