The play result of a first game played on a game console (2) is rated for each user to create a ranking and play proceeds in a second game associated with said first game, and then the progress status of the second game is displayed to users. When one user from a group of users involved in the second game is chosen as a specific user, progress in the second game is controlled on the basis of the first game rating for said specific user and the rating for those users with whom a peer relationship is established with respect to said specific user, such that the higher the rating for the specific user and the higher the rating for peer users, the further the specific user will progress in the second game.
