Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for an ultrasound diagnosis using a variable inductor. Provided is the apparatus for the ultrasound diagnosis comprising: a probe for transmitting an ultrasonic signal to an object and receiving an ultrasonic echo signal reflected from the object to form a reception signal; an image processing portion for forming an image based on the reception signal, and outputting the image through a display portion that is provided; and a control portion for setting an image mode selected in accordance with the image, and controlling so that the probe transmits to the object the ultrasonic signal, to which one inductor value from variable inductor values that correspond to the image mode is applied. According to the present embodiment, a user can set the image mode to obtain a desired diagnostic image of an object and obtain an optimal diagnostic image according to characteristics of an inductor by connecting at least one inductor from a plurality of inductors depending on the inductor values that correspond to the image mode.
