Provided are an information processing system capable of updating a map in accordance with new features in the case such features exist around a vehicle without bothering the user of a navigation device while minimizing the amount of communication between the navigation device and a server device. A navigation device (1) that moves with a vehicle (M) is provided with an image sensor (2) for imaging the periphery of the vehicle to create image data, a location detection unit (3) for detecting a location during imaging, an image analysis unit (4) for comparing the created image data with past image data, and a transmission unit (5) for, when the image data are different from each other, transmitting the newly created image data and location data to a map management device (10). The map management device (10) is provided with a receiving unit (11) to which the transmitted image data and location data are input, and a map update unit (12) for updating map information corresponding to the location data using the transmitted image data.
