PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly-reliable hybrid electric locomotive which can reduce noise and improve fuel efficiency while efficiently traveling and charging.SOLUTION: The hybrid electric locomotive includes: a first engine 21a and a second engine 21b for driving generators 22a, 22b; a third engine 21c having smaller capacity than those of the first engine and the second engine, for driving a generator 22c; at least one electric device 27a, 27b; a main electric circuit 50a for supplying generated power to a main electric motor; a sub-electric circuit 50b connected to the main electric circuit for supplying the power generated by the third engine and an electric motor to an electric device; and a storage battery 31 which can store power generated by the generator and can supply the stored power to the main electric circuit and the sub-electric circuit; a contactor K1 which opens/closes connections between the sub-electric circuit and the storage battery and the main electric circuit; and a controller 46 which controls opening/closing of the contactor according to power supply and power storage. |
