PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel method for easily producing an isoindole.SOLUTION: The method for producing an isoindole represented by formula (2) is characterized by reducing a phthalonitrile represented by formula (1). In the formulae, X represents a halogen atom; Y represents R, ORor SR(wherein R, Rand Reach independently represent an alkyl, an aryl or an alkylaryl group); and m represents an integer of 1 to 4 and n represents a natural number of 0 to 3, provided that m+n≤4. |
