PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a permanent magnet motor that effectively prevents torque ripple.SOLUTION: A permanent magnet motor 1 includes: permanent magnets 23 that are embedded in a rotor 20 at positions corresponding to respective sides of a rectangle having a shaft center of the rotor 20 as the center thereof and that are adjacent at two ends to an outer circumferential surface of the rotor 20; and a plurality of slits 26 that are arranged, at intervals along each of the permanent magnets 23, between each permanent magnet 23 and the outer circumferential surface of the rotor 20 and that have cross sections, perpendicular to a direction of a rotor axis, shaped so as to extend longitudinally from each permanent magnet 23 to the outer circumferential surface of the rotor 20. The slits 26 have: end slits 26a that are arranged correspondingly to two ends of each permanent magnet 23; middle slits 26c that are arranged correspondingly to an approximate middle portion between the two ends of each permanent magnet 23; and slits 26b other than the slits 26a and 26c. The cross sections of the slits 26a, 26b, and 26c have respective widths Xa, Xb, and Xc perpendicular to respective longitudinal directions thereof. The widths Xa and Xc are different from the width Xb. |
