The present invention relates to an adhesive-containing labelstock for reducing microbial populations comprising:
(A) a polymer film substrate comprising
(A-1) a terpolymer prepared from a mixture comprising (i) ethylene or propylene, (ii) a comonomer comprising acrylic acids and esters, methacrylic acids and esters, vinyl acetate, and mixtures of two or more thereof, and (iii) carbon monoxide, and
(A-2) an effective amount of a antimicrobial composition which comprises at least one metal chlorite and at least one solid inorganic hydrophilic material capable of reacting with the metal chlorite when exposed to water, said substrate having a first surface and a second surface, and
(B) an adhesive layer underlying the second surface of the substrate.
