PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing acrylic acid from glycerol efficiently in a high yield while suppressing as much as possible polymerization of acrolein generated by a dehydration reaction of the glycerol, and to provide a method of manufacturing a hydrophilic resin using the thus-obtained acrylic acid.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing acrylic acid comprises a glycerol dehydration step of introducing glycerol into a first reactor 3 to subject it to a dehydration reaction to obtain an acrolein-containing gas, and an acrolein oxidation step of introducing an acrolein-containing gas into a second reactor 9 to subject acrolein contained in the acrolein-containing gas to an oxidation reaction to obtain an acrylic acid-containing gas, wherein: the pressure Pat an outlet of the first reactor is caused to be lower than atmospheric pressure, while the pressure Pat an inlet of the second reactor is caused to be higher than the pressure P; and the acrolein-containing gas is introduced from the first reactor to the second reactor while keeping acrolein contained in the acrolein-containing gas in a gas phase. |
