The invention relates to a method for producing an aromatic petroleum fraction comprising at least 95% by weight of benzene (31), from at least one naphtha fraction (2) comprising paraffins, aromatic compounds and precursors of said aromatic compounds, comprising the steps consisting of: a) separating the paraffins from the naphtha fraction (2) in a paraffin separation unit (10), b) using catalytic reforming to process the fraction devoid of paraffins obtained in step a) in a catalytic reforming unit (20) to form a reformate (23) rich in aromatic compounds, and c) separating the aromatic compounds originating from said reformate of step b) in an aromatic compound separation unit (30), to obtain the aromatic petroleum fraction comprising at least 95% by weight of benzene (31).
