PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planar light emitting device capable of stabilizing light incidence efficiency into a light guide plate by reducing an error of clearance between a light guide plate and a light source, capable of controlling luminance unevenness of a display panel and luminance errors among individual products, and capable of improving luminance by making a design value of clearance smaller, and to provide an image display apparatus having the planar light emitting device and a television receiver.SOLUTION: An end of a heat spreader 11 is superimposed on an end of a light guide plate holder 12 of a backlight unit 9, and a positioning pin 14 installed on the light guide plate holder 12 is inserted into a positioning pin insertion hole 11b of the heat spreader 11 so as to position the heat spreader 11 on the light guide plate holder 12. The heat spreader 11 is screwed to a chassis by screws 13 at a plurality of places in a longitudinal direction. The light guide plate 2, the heat spreader 11, and the light guide plate holder 12 are integrated to reduce errors of clearance between the light guide plate 2 and a light source module 5. |
