PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a time necessary for a start of recording, and to eliminate a start/stop operation of a negative pressure generation mechanism at a preliminary discharge operation, in a constitution which generates negative pressure in an inkjet recording head using a negative pressure generation source such as an exhaust fan.SOLUTION: A buffer chamber is interposed in a communication passage between the recording head and the negative pressure generation source, and first and second switch valves are arranged in a communication passage between the buffer chamber and the negative pressure generation source and in a communication passage between the buffer chamber and the recording head. Before a recording signal is received and before the preliminary discharge operation is indicated, the second switch valve is closed, and after the negative pressure generation source is driven in a state that the first switch valve is opened, the first switch valve is closed, thus performing processing for holding the inside of the buffer chamber in a prescribed negative pressure state. |
