This data storage control device (1) is equipped with: a compression unit (11) for subjecting block-unit image data (MB) to lossless compression so as to reduce the amount of data; a determination means for determining whether lossless compression is possible; and a storage control unit (13) that performs storage control so as to store losslessly compressed data into a storage unit (5) as compressed data when the lossless compression is determined by the determination means to be possible, or store the block-unit image data (MB) into the storage unit (5) when lossless compression is determined by the determination means to not be possible.
