PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow constantly stable reading by calibrating reading characteristics of a sensor for reading information on a sheet, with high accuracy.SOLUTION: A calibrating member of which the optical characteristics can be detected by a sensor unit is attached on the basis of a hold-down plate for holding down a sheet to be read. A carriage is moved to such a position that the calibrating member can be detected by the sensor unit, and optical characteristics of the calibrating member are detected by the sensor unit, and the sensor unit is calibrated on the basis of the detection result. |
